How to use it

  1. Drag your PNG images onto the box above.
  2. Choose the background colour that will replace any transparent areas.
  3. Set the quality level — 85 is a good starting point.
  4. Click “Convert to JPG” and download the result.

Converting PNG to JPG is the quickest way to shrink screenshots and images saved as PNG. A four-megabyte PNG typically becomes well under half a megabyte as a JPG with no meaningful visual difference — useful for email attachments or a platform that enforces an upload limit.

One thing to watch: JPG has no transparency at all. If your image has a transparent background — a logo or an icon, say — those areas will be filled with a solid colour. That's why there's a background colour option above. White suits most cases, but pick whatever matches the background the image will sit on.

If your image is a logo or graphic that genuinely needs a transparent background, don't convert it to JPG at all — keep it as PNG and use the resizer to reduce its dimensions instead.

Frequently asked questions

It's filled with the colour you choose before converting, because JPG stores no transparency information. The default is white; change it to match wherever the image will be used.

It depends on the content, but a 70–95% reduction is very common for screenshots and photographs that were saved as PNG.

JPG is lossy, so there is always some technical loss. At quality 85 or above it's hard to notice in most images, though it can show as fuzziness around text and hard edges in screenshots.

Transparency and lost detail can't be recovered afterwards, so always keep the original PNG.
