The short version
We ask for no sign-up and create no accounts. Most of our tools run entirely inside your browser, so your files never reach us at all. Two kinds of tool do need our server, and below we explain exactly what reaches us in each case and how long we keep it. The site may also show ads from Google, which use cookies of their own.
What reaches us, by type of tool
Every tool page states at the top which of these three types it belongs to.
| Type of tool | Examples | What reaches our server | What we keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| Runs in your browser | Image tools; merging, splitting, compressing and converting PDFs to images; text and developer tools | Nothing from your files or text | Nothing |
| Lookups from our server | DNS tools, blacklist check, port checker, what is my IP | The domain name, IP address or ports you enter | The result, in a short-lived cache for a few minutes, plus ordinary server logs |
| File conversion | PDF to Word, Word to PDF | The file you upload | Nothing; the file and the result are deleted once the result is sent to you |
Tools that run in your browser
These tools use standard browser technologies to read the file from your device and process it in browser memory. No part of the file or text is sent to us or anyone else, and there is nothing for us to delete because we never received it. You can check this: open a tool page, disconnect from the internet, then use the tool. It will keep working.
Lookup tools
A browser can't make DNS queries or open connections to arbitrary ports, so these tools run from our server. Only what you type into the tool reaches us: a domain name, an IP address or port numbers. No files. We keep the result in a short-lived cache (at most two minutes for DNS lookups and five minutes for blacklist checks) so the same query isn't repeated, after which it's discarded automatically. We don't link your lookups to your identity.
The what-is-my-IP tool shows you the address our server sees when you visit. We don't store it for the purpose of that tool.
File conversion tools
Converting between Word and PDF needs processing a browser can't do, so your file is uploaded to our server. It's stored in a temporary folder used for that one job, converted, and then the folder, with your file and the result, is deleted as soon as the result is sent back to you. If deletion fails for any reason, an automatic clean-up removes any leftovers within minutes. We keep no copy, we don't look at the contents, and we don't log your file names.
For highly sensitive documents, we'd suggest not uploading them to any online converter, ours included, if you have an alternative on your own device, such as Word's own Save as PDF.
Server logs
Like any website, our server records technical data with each request: IP address, time, the page requested and browser type. For the lookup tools this includes the domain or address you looked up, because it's part of the request itself, and it may also appear in technical error messages. We use these logs only to run the site, protect it from abuse and diagnose faults, and keep them for a limited period of no more than 90 days, after which they're deleted.
We use Cloudflare to deliver and protect the site. Your visits pass through its network, so it also processes technical data such as your IP address for that purpose, under its own privacy policy.
Cookies and advertising
The site itself sets no cookies. The page language is part of its address (/ar or /en), so we don't need a cookie to remember it, and we don't use analytics tools. The only thing we store in your browser is your answer to the cookie consent banner, kept in the browser's local storage for 12 months, after which we ask again.
To cover running costs, we may show ads served by Google. Where ads are shown:
- Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, and opt out of some other vendors' cookies at www.aboutads.info.
- To learn how Google uses data when you visit its partners' sites, see this page from Google.
On your first visit a banner asks for your consent. If you accept, Google may show personalised ads. If you decline, only non-personalised ads are requested; these aren't based on your past visits, though Google may still use cookies with them for limited purposes such as frequency capping and fraud prevention. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. Visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland see Google's certified consent message instead of ours.
You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your data.
- We don't build profiles about you.
- We don't share the contents of your files with anyone, and for the tools that run in your browser we never have them in the first place.
Children
The site is a general-purpose tool, not aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone.
Your rights
People visit this site from many countries, and each country has its own data protection laws. Wherever you are, you can ask us what we hold about you, and ask to see it, correct it or delete it, and we'll honour the request. Because we keep no accounts or files, the only data that could relate to you is the server logs described above, for their limited period. For any request or question, email us at [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.
Changes to this policy
If the way the site works changes, for example a new tool that needs our server or the use of analytics, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
