Convert Word to PDF

Turn a Word document into a PDF that looks the same on every device, with Arabic text, tables and images intact. DOCX, DOC, ODT and RTF files up to 20 MB are accepted.

Your file is uploaded, converted, then deleted
Converting between Word and PDF needs processing a browser can't do, so your file is sent to our server, converted, and deleted as soon as the result is sent back. We keep no copy and don't look at the contents.

How to use it

  1. Drag your document onto the box above, or click to choose it.
  2. Press “Convert to PDF”. It usually takes a few seconds.
  3. Download the PDF. It keeps your document's file name.
  4. Page through it before you send it, checking fonts, page breaks and page numbers.

Sending several documents as one file? Convert each one, then combine them with Merge PDF.

Why use this tool?

  • The same layout for every recipient A Word file changes with whoever opens it: their fonts, their software version, their page settings. Tables break and paragraphs jump pages. A PDF fixes fonts, margins and page breaks exactly as you set them.
  • Arabic handled properly Right-to-left direction, joined letters, alignment and mixed Arabic–English text all survive. That is exactly where many in-browser converters fail.
  • Your fonts, as you chose them If your font is available on the server it's kept exactly as you chose it, so neither the look of the document nor its page count changes.

Arabic fonts and searchable text

A PDF carries its fonts inside it, which is why it looks the same everywhere. The conversion happens on our server, though, so the font in the result is the one available there. If your document's font is installed, it's kept. If not, common Arabic fonts are replaced with Amiri, a classic Naskh typeface, and other fonts with the closest match available.

Beneath the letters you see, every PDF also holds a hidden text layer used for search, copy and paste, and screen readers. For Arabic text, how accurate that layer is depends on the font. This is what we found in our tests:

Font in your document Searching and copying from the PDF
Segoe UI or Amiri Accurate. Words copy and search exactly as written.
Arial, Tahoma, Times New Roman or Simplified Arabic Accurate for most text, except the lam-alef pair «لا», which may copy out reversed.
Traditional Arabic or Arabic Typesetting Looks perfect, but copying or searching gives wrong letters in most words.

What you see and print is correct in every case. The difference only shows when copying, searching or using a screen reader. If the recipient will search the file or copy from it, or a system will read it automatically, switch to Segoe UI or Amiri before converting.

What happens to your file

This and PDF to Word are the only tools on the site that upload your file, because a browser can't lay out a Word document accurately. Here is exactly what happens to your document:

  • It's stored in a folder used only for this one conversion, under a generic name rather than yours.
  • The whole folder, your document and the PDF, is deleted as soon as the conversion finishes, before your download starts.
  • If something fails midway, an automatic clean-up removes anything left behind within 5 minutes.
  • We keep no copy, don't read the contents and don't log your file names.

For highly sensitive documents, converting on your own computer is the safest route: in Word, choose File → Save As and pick PDF. The full details are in our privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions

Usually because a font in your document isn't on the server, and its replacement is slightly wider or narrower, which moves the line breaks. Complex documents can also paginate a little differently because the conversion isn't done by Word itself. If the page count must match exactly, save as PDF from Word directly.

Yes. Links in your document stay clickable in the PDF, and tables and images are kept as they are.

The size usually comes from images in the document, which are embedded at full resolution. Shrink it with Compress PDF, or compress the pictures in Word before converting. Our guide to reducing PDF file size covers other fixes by cause.

No. Remove the password in Word first (File → Info → Protect Document), then try again.
