Convert PDF to an Editable Word File
Upload a PDF and get back a Word document (DOCX) you can edit directly. It works best on letters, reports and contracts that need a correction or an update, and it handles Arabic and mixed Arabic–English text properly.

How to use it
- Drag your PDF onto the box above, or click to pick one. The limit is 20 MB.
- Press “Convert to Word”. Most files finish in a few seconds; long documents can take up to a minute.
- Download the DOCX. It keeps your original file name.
- Open it in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs, and check numbers and names before you send it on.
Only need a few pages from a long file? Pull them out first with Split PDF. The conversion will be faster and cleaner.
Why use this tool?
- Paragraphs you can type into In most documents the text comes back as ordinary Word paragraphs, not a page of floating text boxes that fight you on every edit.
- Arabic that reads correctly Many converters scramble the word order in Arabic sentences. Here the words stay in order and Arabic paragraphs are set right-to-left, so mixed-language documents come out usable.
- No account, no watermark No sign-up, no email address, and nothing stamped on the document you download.
What converts well, and what doesn't
A PDF has no idea what a paragraph or a heading is. It only records where each character sits on the page. The converter has to work the structure back out from those positions and the gaps between them, so how good the result is depends mostly on how the PDF was made.
| Your PDF | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Saved from Word or Google Docs | Excellent. Paragraphs, headings and simple tables come back very close to the original. |
| Multi-column reports, nested tables | Good, but expect to tidy some line breaks or column widths. |
| A scan or a photo of a page | No editable text, because the page is an image. It needs OCR (optical character recognition) first. |
| Password-protected | Refused. Remove the password in the program that created it, then try again. |
Going the other way, and want a document that looks the same on every screen? Use Word to PDF, and see our guide on converting Word to PDF without the layout changing.
What happens to your file
This and Word to PDF are the only tools on the site that upload your file, because a browser can't rebuild a Word document on its own. Here is exactly what happens:
- The file is stored in a folder used only for this one conversion, under a generic name rather than yours.
- That whole folder, original and result, is deleted as soon as the conversion finishes, before your download even starts.
- If something fails midway, an automatic clean-up removes anything left behind within 5 minutes.
- We keep no copy, don't read the contents and don't log what's in the file.
For highly sensitive documents, converting on your own computer is the safest route: desktop Word opens PDFs directly via File → Open. The full details are in our privacy policy.
