What Is My IP Address?
The address websites see when you visit them.
Your public address
…
How to use it
- Open this page — the address appears immediately.
- Copy it with the copy button.
- Reload after switching on a VPN to confirm it changed.
Your public IP is what every site you visit sees. It isn't your device's address inside your home network — it's your connection as the world sees it, and usually every device in your home or office shares the same one.
You'll need it when adding your address to an allow-list in a control panel or firewall, or when checking that a VPN is working: if the address shown differs from your usual one, the connection really is going through it.
Frequently asked questions
Most home internet plans use dynamic addresses that the provider reassigns periodically or when you restart the router. A fixed address is usually a paid add-on.
No. It generally indicates the city or region your provider operates in, and can be far from where you actually are. It does not reveal a street address.
We keep no record tying your address to you. The server necessarily sees it in order to send you the page — that's how the internet works — but we don't store it in a database or share it.
